Sean O'Kane - Partner

I remember the day in 2002, walking along South Bank in London, that I made the decision to take control of my destiny and comitt to setting up my own advice business.

It was after another frustrating conversation where I was being asked to do something that seemed to have no real benefit for our clients. I held an honours degree in business plus advanced qualifications in financial planning, but I wasn't able to work with clients the way that I wanted.

Soon afterwards, I met an amazing professional who changed my thinking about what was possible in my field, and who introduced me to providing financial advice to the medical profession. I loved it from the start.

Fast forward to Brisbane, 2007, and I fulfilled my dream of establishing an advice business serving the medical profession. Medical Financial Group was born.

I've always had a strong sense of right and wrong, and I wanted this to lie at the heart of Medical Financial Group. We weren't going to do things the established way just because that was the way it had always been done. So, from the beginning, our path was different from the 'typical' advice business. Instead, we wanted to build life-long relationships with clients, tailored to their individual needs. Our success proves that if you do that, you can't go wrong.

Now, with 17 years in the industry, I believe that good financial planning should create a path to a good life. My own version of the good life involves my wonderful wife, Ruth, two fantastic sons, Ollie and Charlie, and getting up at sunrise to ride, swim or run as I train for triathlons. And that's what it's all about at the end of the day, isn't it?
